Spring has sprung! The grass is getting greener, the sun is staying out longer and soon I’ll be sporting my favourite sandals! In addition to changing over my wardrobe, this is usually the time when I love to give my home a bit of a revitalizing too. Sure a good deep cleaning is always a part of my springtime ritual but there are some other things I find useful for clearing away the winter cobwebs. Here’s my list of 8 ways to freshen up your space for spring!
1. Do Some Spring Cleaning…AND Decluttering
Throughout the month of January, I made it my goal to completely declutter and purge all of our unwanted and unnecessary items before the big move. I shared my tips in this post but I also found this great article from the Everygirl that has some useful ideas too. So if you haven’t tackled the back of that closet or say…your pantry yet, spring is the perfect time to spend a Sunday doing some purging and deeper cleaning.

2. Add a Colourful Print or Two
Art prints are a relatively easy change to make throughout the seasons. This season, opt for some colour or something that brings warmer weather to mind…like a trip to the beach for instance 🙂
3. Find Some Pastel Accents
I have a few pillow covers that I like to switch out when the weather changes but the pastel trend is so hot right now, I would like to take it to the next level. Home Sense is usually my go to and after reading this article, I am looking forward to finding some more affordable home accents that will pull in some perfect pastels.
4. Choose Lighter Fabrics & Textures
In Spring, I can stow away the chunky knits and big cozy blankets in favour of some lighter options. I typically change out our bed linens too (see a whole post on making over the bedroom for warmer weather here!). I love when my home feels airy and open and changing the textures (pillows, throws, rugs, etc) in the space makes a big difference.
5. Inject Some Greenery
I love having some green throughout the whole year (especially when the winter months are dragging!) but Spring is when I really gravitate to more greenery. How gorgeous is this space with all the potted plants?!
6. Grab A New Vase For Seasonal Florals
Fresh flowers may be the easiest way to refresh a home in Spring. But think about the vase too! It can be a fun way to add a pop of colour (like a pastel…see #3!)
7. Unpack The Spring Table Linens
Typically we host more meals when the weather is warm…BBQ anyone? And having a Spring inspired table is so much fun and a beautiful addition to any meal.
8. Source Out Some New Scents
In Spring, I usually prefer lighter scents that have more fruitiness to them. So my candle choices will change and I’ll open the windows to let the outside air in and rid the house of all that winter stuffiness. Aaaaahhhh….
