After sharing the plans for our bedroom redesign, I promised to speak a little more on one of the biggest design decisions we made…the bed frame. Because Ryan and I were lucky enough to receive a King mattress, it was time to search for the right frame to fit it. Here was my list of things I needed to consider:
- style – I wanted something to mesh well with our existing pieces. Ideally, it needed to be mid century or Scandi styled, minimalistic and simple
- material – because of our wood nightstands, I wanted to vary the texture. My ideal bed frame would need to be soft…a linen was what I was originally imagining
- colour – again, it needed to blend well with the space since we weren’t planning on doing a full redesign. Neutral was key…
- function – with a busy toddler and two big dogs who like to cuddle, I was on the hunt for a bed that could withstand a lot of commotion
And so with those items at the back of my mind I spent hours searching the world wide web, truthfully getting a little discouraged because of shipping costs or the lack of availability in Canada. It’s not the first time that’s happened and it certainly won’t be the last.
And then I went back to what is now starting to feel like an old friend – Article. And it was a no brainer. As soon as I saw the Culla bed frame I got excited. It ticked off every item on my list – the right mid century style, a soft tufted headboard in a neutral colour and white wood that would definitely be solid! (PS – it is currently on SALE too for Article’s Memorial day sale!!)
And then there’s the fact that I already know Article is super dependable when it comes to delivery and there are no surprises with a flat rate shipping fee of only $49. Bonus; they’re a Vancouver based furniture brand! My Canadian design heart rejoices!! I even opted to have them build the bed frame and it was AHHHmazing! Note: this is a $169 upgrade that they offer in their delivery services and I highly recommend it.
Now, after living with this beauty of a bed frame for a few weeks, I can tell you I am not disappointed with my choice. The combo of fabric and wood actually ended being better than a full linen frame because of how much my dogs shed. I would have been constantly vacuuming the sides and footboard and that was one of the reasons I wanted to ditch the bed skirt so badly from our previous bed. The fur builds up so fast around this house! And I love that the style of this piece fits in so well with our other furniture and decor. It really was the best choice for a simple refresh!
I cannot wait to show you the full room reveal, coming very shortly! Stay tuned! For now, I’m going to hop into bed and have a cozy nap!!
