Happy New Year! I can’t believe it’s that time again…time to get sentimental and look back at what a year it has been for myself and this little blog. I love doing this round up because it’s so great to review all the amazing experiences, posts and hard work that goes into running Inspired by Lynne. It’s been quite a journey! So without further ado, let’s throw it back and take a look at the best of 2015!
Local Love
One of my favourite things from the year was how I connected with so many amazing local ladies, whether they were bloggers, artists, designers or small business owners. It was the year of support and it kicked off with me finally meeting Diana at 204 Park, doing a really fun Inspired by post with Poppy Barley and then venturing to BlogPodium with my #yegblogpodiumsquad. In the holiday season, Diana and I joined forces at the Project Loft to shoot all of our holiday content AND I started what I hope to be a yearly tradition of the Blogger WIsh List Yeg Edition, featuring some of the very best of Edmonton.
Inspired Reads
You know me and my books. I had to continue my Inspired Reads series, making sure to include my Best Books of the Summer.Other reviews included Cupcakes and Cashmere At Home, Everything I Never Told You, The Nightingale, Yes Please, Hausfrau and The Girl on the Train to name a few. More reading aplenty in 2016!
Recipes
Jacqui continued to wow on the recipe front and she featured amazing dishes like Oeufs pour Le Brunch, Gluten Free Bread, Chocolate Cake, Signature Salads and Salad Dressings! Mmmmmmm.
And for the holidays, I dabbled in my own kitchen with these Sugar Cookies and delicious Mulled Wine.
Style
Style posts saw a major improvement this year! It may not be an area I focus on too much in 2016 since I’d like to drive towards more design and decor posts, but fashion is always fun! I think my favourites would have to be the slouchy sweater, duster coat, and fall florals.
One exciting event from the fall was when Nicole was invited for a private party at Kit and Ace and she brought all of us along with her. We got to choose a favourite item from the store and then showcased our style in this post. I love getting together with my ladies of Behind the Blush and Nicole Ashley Photography.
The Wedding
It’s no secret that we got married in 2015 but I have been keeping most photos and details from the day private until I’ve heard back from a few websites. I’d love to see our day featured somewhere!! Nevertheless, I did manage to sneak in a few wedding posts here and there, and, I promise, there will be much more to come in 2016.Some wedding posts included: My favourite blush bridesmaid dresses, getting hair and makeup advice from these two, hitting up Swept Bridal Event for a second time, sharing 3 different bridal looks and my simple gift ideas for your gals.
Travel
2015 was quite a year for travel! I started off the year by going to Paris for 3 days, and then Florence, Assisi and Rome. When the summer kicked off, I road tripped down to Montana for an epic stagette weekend and then later in July, met my brother and sister-in-law in Mexico for a week.
And then, of course, there was the Honeymoon!! We started with 9 incredible jam-packed days in Croatia seeing Zagreb, Plitvice Lakes, Split, Hvar Town and Dubrovnik. Then we ventured over to Montenegro and stayed in the most beautiful place in Kotor Bay.Then we flew over to Switzerland for a major change in scenery, starting in Lucerne and ending on the picturesque Lake Geneva. Early in 2016, I’ll be sharing the next leg of that trip with full posts on Spain!
Home Design
We completed some killer projects in early 2015: our second bedroom remodel and then the outstanding Beaumont Dream Home. I also shared some design tips in posts like the following: How to Style Kitchen Shelving, Decorating with Plaid, the Best West Elm Finds, and my favourite, The Best White Paints…something I know a thing or two about, right!
The Big Flips
And finally, we completed not one but TWO flips in 2015. In late spring, we finished the Capilano flip and it sold in under 4 hours! If you want to take a look at the whole journey again here’s the Before Post, the Demolition Post and the Kitchen Inspiration and Design post!
And shortly after selling the Capilano house, we found this gem in Laurier Heights. For this round, I wanted to document the project via video and started posting Episodes to YouTube. Demolition went so quickly and before we knew it, we had a gorgeous bathroom and master bedroom, a killer kitchen and, my favourite space, the stunning living room.
