The day has arrived! All the blood and sweat that has gone into our Capilano Part Deux house has paid off and we are ready to take you on a tour! I’m pretty excited for this reveal – our fourth flip (!!!) really has gone through a huge transformation and I’m crazy proud of the team for all their hard work. Especially my husband who was instrumental (like he always is) at fine tuning all the details. So enough chit chat from me! Let’s have a look at the before and after, shall we?!
Front Entry Before
Front Entry After
It was pretty dark when you first walked in but me and my white paint solved that pretty quickly! For this house, we removed all the wall panelling and went with Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace throughout – one of my favourite white paints.
Living Room Before
Living Room After
The spacious front entry leads into a very spacious living room. You can now see that we replaced all the existing flooring with a Smoked Hickory engineered hardwood. This living space gets so much natural lighting from the huge front windows, it was easy to stage! I picked up this gorgeous horse print from Home Sense that seemed to fit the room perfectly. On the opposite wall, I added a few design details on the console table I fixed up last year. This area would also be a great place for a bar cart!
Kitchen Before
Kitchen After
As you can expect from me, I did another bright white kitchen…with a few changes. I wanted to inject a bit of black in this kitchen and initially planned to do all black base cabinets. After designing the kitchen and realizing we didn’t have as many uppers, I decided to swap that idea, fearing it would look a little lopsided. So instead, I opted for black hardware, a lovely black kitchen faucet and my favourite black semi flush mount light fixture.Ryan is getting incredibly good at concrete countertops so we decided to give it another go on this project. It’s the perfect amount of contrast from the elongated white subway tile backsplash. Probably the biggest change from the before photos is that we completely removed the wall separating the living room from the kitchen. In its place, we created the perfect island with a ton of prep space! And, this is where I got a little more of the black I was craving in the kitchen. One of our favourite parts about our last flip, the Laurier Heights House, was that we added a faux brick wall. Since we needed a post in our island to make it structurally sound, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to add that brick detailing we love so much. I love the warmth it brings to the space and how it carries into the softness of the butcher block countertop.
I could definitely see myself having a cup of coffee here each morning, couldn’t you?! It may be my favourite part of this kitchen! We also kept the dining area in the same spot as before. I simply added a show stopping pendant light to jazz things up a bit!

Bedroom After
How can we ever forget the shag carpet walls of the preexisting master bedroom. They truly were unforgettable. But now, this bedroom is all up to date! And no…it is no longer the master bedroom…stay tuned!
Main Bathroom Before
Main Bathroom After
No more pink and beige in here. It’s all white and bright. It would make a great kids or guest bathroom, depending on the family that moves in!
Hot tub Addition Room Before
Master Suite After
Get ready for a huge transformation in this space! What was once a bedroom/addition that once held a hot tub, is now a complete master suite. We added a huge master bathroom in the space that was once the third bedroom. In this space, we could comfortably fit a double sink vanity with black mirrors and black and brass wall sconces that I found at Canadian Tire of all places! I was really impressed with their lighting selection!
And how can you not love a massive shower in your ensuite?! If you look closely, I chose the same elongated white subway tile as the kitchen but Ryan installed them vertically instead of horizontally. I love the result!
And now, for the addition, which is the master bedroom! It really is quite remarkable what a fresh coat of paint and new flooring can do to a space. You would never even recognize it anymore. We staged the bed on one side of the room and a cute little sitting area on the other beside the small fireplace. And though the hallway leading into the master does have a good closet, we also added a new PAX wardrobe system for added storage…a his and hers situation if you will! There’s also sliding doors here that lead out to a small patio – a perfect spot for morning coffees or watching the kids play in the backyard.

I mean a basement is a basement for the most part; not much changes from each flip we do. But what I love about this transformation is how insanely huge it now feels and that windows on either side of the basement make it seem so much lighter and open. Plus, a crazy amount of pot lights helps too! Oh and you can’t knock a functioning basement bathroom! And that concludes all the before and after photos of our Capilano Part Deux flip! Tonight, we are taking the original owners through on a tour and we hope that they love it as much as we do. It’s always a little emotional because so many memories were created here and now it’s so very different! But soon a new family will get to love it and create their own memories, which makes it all worthwhile!
Yes, yes, YES! That master suite is what dreams are made of! I will say though, little disappointed you got rid of the tiki bar 😉 lol
