In a way, it feels like 2015 was the longest year ever…and in another, it feels like I blinked and it’s a year later! Even so, it’s time to take a look back and appreciate all the memories, the best moments and favourite things from the past 12 months. I’ll be sharing a few posts with you but I thought I would start out with my 2015 favourites – everything from songs to pins to destinations!
SONGS: FAST – Where Are U Now – Skrillex | SLOW – In Time – Talos
If I could actually pick one song it would be the one I walked down the aisle to on our wedding day but that would be cheating since it wasn’t released in 2015. So I chose Where Are U Now because it reminds me of all the fun of the summer, dancing at our wedding, putting it on full blast when I was training for my 10 km race and just summer in general! And secondly, In Time was on constant repeat the past little while because it is just beautiful and the lyrics definitely hit home.
BOOKS: FICTION – The Nightingale | NON-FICTION – Why Not Me | DESIGN – Styled
How could I not choose The Nightingale! It was my absolute favourite book of the year (see my whole post on it here) and I really enjoyed Mindy Kaling’s journey in Why Not Me. My favourite design book hands down is Styled by Emily Henderson…I have a huge girl crush! And the book is gorgeous too…
TV SHOW – The Affair
This may need to tie Netflix’s Making a Murderer after we binge watched every episode in 2 days, but The Affair continued to be my favourite show this season. It ended on such a dramatic note and I am so intrigued to see where they take it in season 3! If you haven’t seen this, get season 1 immediately!
MOVIE – Trainwreck
I haven’t seen a lot of the recently nominated Golden Globe films and I know as we gear up for the Academy Awards my vote will change in this category, but my favourite movie of 2015 was Trainwreck! Maybe it was because we saw it right before the wedding and it really helped to de-stress, but all I know is this movie made me laugh harder than anything else in a really long time.
RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE – Rge Rd
This may be a bit unfair to some of the other great restaurants I ate at over the year since I had a private brunch here with Chef Michael Smith and my girl Diana at 204 Park! That’s hard to top! But I also ate here with Ryan for my 30th birthday and it was spectacular. Great ambiance, even better food.
DESIGN INSPO – Modern Meets Rustic Kitchen Design
This year was the year of high contrast and my return to loving black and white. Everything about this kitchen design is inspiring for me…gorgeous white brick, distressed chevron laid wood floors, abstract black artwork as an accent and cabinets that are simply stunning. Love it!
STYLE INSPO – Trendy Winter Outfit
I love this simple style that’s comfortable but still put together and on trend. Gotta love the layers too. Click here to see the whole post on winter outfits!
PIN – My Fave Bathroom
I also have a major girl crush on Amber Interiors and ALL of the pins I nabbed from her are my favourite from 2015 but I had to choose this one because it was a major source of inspiration for our bathroom remodel in the Laurier Heights house.
PROJECT – The Laurier Living Room
We did two outstanding flips this year but the project that stole my heart was the living room of the Laurier Heights house. I just love how we opened it up by sloping the ceiling, painting everything a soft white and doing a feature wall with a fireplace. The predominantly black and white staging all came together to make it my favourite room to date.
DESTINATION – Dubrovnik
Our entire honeymoon was so perfect but my favourite destination in 2015 has to be Dubrovnik. I will always remember what it felt like walking into the old town, seeing the gleaming white marble of the streets and buildings and feeling like I was transported back in time with every step I took. We absolutely loved our time here and in all of Croatia (see my post on 9 amazing days here).
DAY – When I Married My Husband
Well so far…it was the best day of my life, not just the year! And I can’t wait to share more details from our wedding but for now, this one photo will have to suffice! xo
Headed to Range Road tonight! So excited!
Let me know what you think!! And what you ordered 😉 xx
