As we head into the next school year, I know I’m not alone in trying to prep for a happy and productive September. Today, I’ve got 8 tips for gearing up to go back to school…tips that could even be helpful if you’re simply returning to work after a summer vacay or struggling to get into a better fall routine.
- Get Organized – Go into your first week of school with a to-do list that’s been prepared ahead of time so you know what to expect. Make sure your back to school shopping is done, your schedule is planned, and you have a general sense of organization.
- Refresh the Home Office – A beautiful and appealing work space definitely equals more productivity. So before the back to school rush, pay some attention to your home office. Give it a clean, organize paperwork, stack magazines or books and purge!!! If needed, grab some baskets and bins to store your stuff.
- Do Some Serious Meal Prep – When I get busy, the first thing to fall to the wayside is my meal plan for the week. I get really lazy and resort to last minute, thrown together dinners and sometimes I don’t eat breakfast at all. A little extra planning before back to school is essential! I started making chia puddings the night before from Deliciously Ella and it’s changed my morning breakfast routine.
- Beat the Monday Blues – It’s no secret that Mondays are always the hardest day of the week. Couple that with a new back to school schedule and it gets even harder. Forbes has a great list for advice to beat the Monday blues.
- Set The Alarm – Probably the last thing you want to do is set your alarm extra early but even just 10 extra minutes will make your mornings less chaotic and give you a sense of calm as you begin a fresh week. Enjoy an extra cup of coffee and read a few posts from your favourite blogs!
- Tidy Up – I think one of my biggest stressors is a messy house. A simple tidy before a busy week back can be just the thing to keep me feeling calm and in control. And it doesn’t need to be a deep “spring” cleaning – getting rid of clutter and a clean kitchen is a great start!
- Make Some Lemon Water – It’s proven that drinking some lemon water in the morning and throughout the day can boost your energy, flush toxins and help your skin look glorious! A perfect step to helping with the back to school shuffle!
- Start A New Routine Right – When it comes to maintaining consistency and staying motivated, it takes the right mindset. And repetition! So even if it’s a small thing like getting up 10 minutes earlier, if you stick to it for a couple of weeks, it will start to come so much more naturally. Stay positive and be realistic with the goals you set in your new school year routine.
I hope your school year gets off to a great start! xx
