Part 1 – Before
When we first moved into our cute 1950’s home in Hazeldean, we were fortunate to have a beautiful, very move in ready upstairs. Downstairs though…not so much. The first room we decided to tackle on our basement reno list was our laundry room, which to be honest wasn’t really a laundry room at all. All the pipes were in full view as well as the furnace, hot water tank etc., there was no drywall and every time I went down with a basket of clothing I got slivers in my feet from the very rough subfloor. Annoying! And I know Ryan was annoyed of my constant complaining! So in short, it definitely needed work!
So we started getting creative with budget friendly ideas and started to get to work on the framing, drywalling, mudding & taping, painting, installing the drop ceiling, and of course working on that floor!
Ryan and I did all the work ourselves (as you can see here with my man hard at work framing) and yes, I did help! There may be a few drywall screws at odd angles and some splotchy mudding but hey, I was pretty proud of myself! Better to have your first go in a laundry room rather than a living room, right?
We are currently putting on the final touches, so stay tuned for the big reveal!
In the meantime, feast your eyes on some of these fabulous laundry rooms from Houzz…
Ummm… I think most of those look better than my kitchen. 😉
Haha I know right?! Crazy!
