I figured I’d been teasing you long enough. It’s time that I finally share some of my plans/ideas/inspiration for our quick bedroom revamp. We were lucky enough to finally update our queen mattress to a king!!! (holy amazing!!)…which ended up spiralling into a new bed frame, updating the artwork, new pillows, etc. Hence the new bedroom design! I feel like I owe you that explanation since I know what you’re probably thinking…didn’t she reveal this bedroom makeover like a year and a half ago? Yup…welcome to my world. I’m a serial designer, constantly reimagining my spaces! My husband loves me for it 🙂
Anyways…on to the bedroom! If you’ve forgotten how it looks in its current state, pop over to this post. It’s minimalistic, soft and quite serene. And to be honest, I don’t really want that to change. So here’s what I started to dream up to keep it feeling the same while getting a small facelift (on a major budget FYI!).
On the bed side of the room, we have our new king sized mattress and frame. I’ll be speaking about both these items in greater detail soon (but let me say how GLORIOUS it has been sleeping in a comfortable King! life changing!). Now, I do love our current area rug but with the larger bed size, it is too small by design standards. Though in all honesty, it still looks cute at the foot of the bed so I could live with it. The dream rug? This one by Loloi! It still has the same warm tones and I love the tassels.
In the corner, I’d like to have a floor length mirror, since we don’t have one in the house. Nestle it with a basket and some greenery and it’ll be great. I love our nightstands and walls sconces, so no changes there. The only other item I could see myself adding if there’s space (likely not with the dog beds though unfortunately) is a bench at the end of the bed. I love this one (though it’s technically a coffee table) because it’s simple and the texture is lovely.
For accessories, we have some beautiful artwork going up and some new accent pillows. With a bigger bed, I would love to see a long lumbar cushion like this one from Maewoven. A few soft linen euro shams or square pillows would work too. I want it to feel inviting and not overly stuffy. Just enough to fill the bed and add a bit of depth. A new duvet and duvet cover like this one from a local company I love would be amazing too!
AND THEN…the other side of the room…
You know that good ‘ol DIY dresser that went viral? Well it’s staying. You might be wondering how it’s holding up being that it’s Ikea, and truthfully, it needs a fresh coat of paint and some screws tightened. Otherwise, it’s still in great shape and we both really love it. SO, be prepared to see some new small items and a bit of restyling here, but mostly it will be quite similar to what you see above.
What do you think of our quick bedroom refresh? It’s nothing too crazy but just enough to give it a facelift.Â
