It’s been an exciting few days over here with the launch of something new in the design world! Have you heard?! The Canadian e-commerce site for Crate and Barrel got a complete upgrade and it is better than ever!! Here’s the lowdown…
Crate and Barrel used to have a lot of items that were viewable to us Canadians but weren’t actually available, which made the online shopping experience somewhat frustrating. Did you ever go to shop and it would say “call your local store” which you would of course go and do, only to find out once you called that it wasn’t available, couldn’t ship or some other story? That happened to me a time or two, let me tell you! Also, all the online orders used to be processed by a third-party making shipping fees and duties quite high – story of us Canadians decor shopping lives right?! Not to mention, all larger items would have to be shipped to the store and picked up. Not the greatest scenario for anyone who didn’t live close to a location!
But NOW, there are some major changes with this new website that will transform the whole process…here’s what I especially love:
- Improved shipping fees and NO duty fees
- Furniture can be shipped directly to your door for the same fee as if you were to purchase in-store
- Crate and Barrel has also added over 1300+ new products to the site and now you won’t have to question whether or not the product you’re eyeing is actually available for Canadian consumers! It is! You can order it!! Rejoice!
As you can imagine, being a designer, this is huge for me. I have always sourced products for clients at Crate and Barrel, but it was a process…sometimes a downright struggle. Now, I’ll spend a lot less time on the phone, tracking down pieces, figuring out shipping and arranging pick ups. It’s saving me time and money, which is more than fantastic. I mean, I would be happy about this announcement just on a personal level since I obviously love this store. However, the fact that it is also affecting my business makes this change incredibly beneficial. I even get to use my Design Trade membership online as well, cutting out that phone call to apply my discount.
So it’s pretty clear I am jazzed about this! You might be wondering which items (new and classic!) have nabbed my attention and I am absolutely going to share that with you now. Here are some of my current CrateandBarrel.ca faves…
Basket on Stand – I will always love a good basket but I love that this one is on a stand – definitely more unique!
Round Basket Wall Art – still on board with adding a little texture to walls, especially in a dining space.
Serving Bowl – plain is sometimes the best. I love layering an open kitchen shelf with a nice serving bowl like this one
Herb Keeper – practical kitchen piece. I feel like my herbs would stay fresher longer with this fridge addition
Bodum Coffee Press – obviously any french press is great for coffee lovers but I particularly like this white one
Mirror w/shelf – this would look so good in an entry or powder room. The shelf is awesome and I love the small curvature of the corners.
Turkish Grey Hand Towel – simple and clean, this grey towel would look great in any bathroom
Linen Sheets – these look oh so dreamy. And I love the soft grey colour. Perfect for fall!
Striped Pillow Case – I think this particular pillow case would look so great as a contrast to the linen sheets – giving some detail and dimension to the bed scene
Linen Quilt – I am all about layering bedding for fall and this linen quilt looks heavenly. Again would look stellar with the sheets above
Wall Sconces – these are all fantastic. Love the styles and the different metal finishes
Dome Pendant – love that there are two sizes and they come in several colours. Obviously, I love the crisp, clean white!
Moroccan Runner – love the tones in this rug and the subtle pattern. It would look great in any size!
Anice Black Runner – stunning! I absolutely love this dark and dramatic rug! Plus it would hide stains so well!
Mara Vases – I can definitely get on board with some simple fall inspired vases. Love that texture too!
I am seriously considering getting one of the runners for the upstairs hallway, considering I am close to having baby girl and that softness will help minimize the noise outside of both her and Jack’s rooms (my dogs nails on the hardwood is so echo-y!!). Or, I could definitely use some warmer textiles in our bedroom – make it a little cozier with fall on the way.
What do you think?! Which new items stand out to you?! Does this change to the Crate and Barrel website get you as excited as it does me?! I’d love to hear your thoughts!
This post was written in collaboration with Crate and Barrel. As always, all opinions are my own! Thank you for supporting the brands that support this small little piece of the internet 🙂
