I love travelling within Canada, especially to our neighbours in the next province. My whole childhood was spent getting to visit my family in B.C., specifically Vancouver and White Rock. They hold a special place for me and any chance I get to go back, I take without hesitation (see my best of Vancouver post here). My last trip was very condensed because of Blogpodium, but me and the lovely #yegblogpodiumsquad did find some time to explore parts of downtown Vancouver, soaking in some unexpected sunshine along the way. If you get a chance to visit this bustling city, then here are a couple of my favourite and best shops in Vancouver that deserve a quick stop, especially if you love interior design as much as I do!
Sure Robson street is where it’s at for all the best-known stores and its handy proximity to the Pacific Centre Mall, but I like going a bit off the beaten path too.
Head to Gastown! This historic area of the city is the interior design mecca – and has the best coffee stops too (almost every corner had another adorable, trendy looking cafe!). My favourite design store in Gastown? The Old Faithful Shop:
Located in a landmark 1903 building in the historic Gastown district of Vancouver, Old Faithful Shop is a modern day version that would have existed on these cobblestone streets over 100 years ago: a store equally anchored in quality products and top-notch service because some things should never have to change. Not only is the space beautiful with the exposed brick and rustic elements, but it has great products – everything from coffee and kitchen accessories to lighting fixtures and gorgeous coffee table books. I left with a small, concrete table lamp and a fun Edison bulb to add to my office.
There’s plenty more to see in this area (try the renowned Inform shop, for instance) but any trip to YVR should take you to the Cross Design which is only a quick jump over to Yaletown. There is just something heavenly about this playful and pretty store. Every time I visit, I get more inspired. The shop covers every room of the house with carefully curated items and unique decor finds. I love how it feels elegant and refined, while still having a relaxed vibe. If I could design a whole home with items from this store, I certainly would. I mean how gorgeous would that light fixture look in a nursery! Some stationary was all I could manage to bring home this go around, but rest assured, I will be back!Other areas of Vancouver that are worth checking out for unique shops and boutiques: Main street, West 4th Ave in Kitsilano (where LuluLemon saw its birth) and, of course, Granville island.
What are some of your favourite places or best shops in Vancouver to visit??
Take me back! Such a lovely afternoon strolling around in the sun. Since returning home I find myself wishing we had something like the Old Faithful here in Edmonton! Such a great little store.
I have to add the cross to my list of places to check out when I’m in Van for New Years!
You should go!! Such amazing things! I wish I could take it all home!
Wow! Such gorgeous treasures in those photos. I must revisit someday soon.
You definitely should!! xo
