Truth be told, I’m finding it hard not to start every Jack related blog post with some version of “how is he already ____ old?!?!?” And today, I can insert 9 months into that slot, which seems crazy! Though I would love to hold back time a little more, I also have to admit that I have LOVED the last few months. Yes, there are still new challenges but, all in all, this stage has been less stressful, less tiring and so much more enjoyable. Here’s what else I can tell you about Jack at 9 months…
At 9 months, there is no stopping him.He is BUSY. He started crawling around 7 1/2 months and within a short amount of time, had it mastered. All of sudden, he was zooming around the house, forcing us to really be on our toes. Now, he is confidently pulling himself up on anything and everything and trying to stand on his own. I have a sneaking suspicion that walking won’t take long for him to discover…or climbing the stairs…
At 9 months, his personality has really started to shine. He is incredibly curious, always smiling and never plays strange…even with strangers! Though he is starting to go through a bit of a mommy phase, and on occasion lets a burst of anger show, he has such a pleasant demeanour. The other day my British doctor said “My he’s a jolly fellow!!” and I couldn’t help but agree. Let’s hope that continues into his toddler years, right?! (yeah right…)
At 9 months, both his sleeping and eating habits have changed considerably. I started to push him into a longer awake window, which lengthened his naps and gave us much better nights. We don’t love the 6 AM wake up call, but I really can’t complain when he goes down for the night around 7:30-8:00. Finally, I feel like I’m getting more of a life now and better balance in the day. And of course, a lot of that was a result of more food throughout the day too. Though I’m still a scaredy cat about choking, he’s slowly getting better at chunkier purées and small pieces of soft food.
At 9 months, he loves going for walks with the dogs, visiting the daycare at the Kinsmen gym, tackling his mommy and being silly with his daddy. His favourite item: his bunny lovey // His favourite snack: puffs // His favourite book: Dance (Chickie Baby story) or when Ryan does the Mr. Brown book with all the sound effects // His favourite toy: Doesn’t really have one as he likes non toy items right now…the remote, my cell phone, his zipper, a shoe lace lol // A new discovery: Waving! And motorboat sounds with his lips!
See how he changed: at 6 months….and at 4 months!
Can he be any cuter! Oh my word.
