Let’s be real…Designing a whole house from top to bottom is HARD! When we started the Beaumont Dream Home with my mom, it was hard to visualize not only the decor, but how the entire house would come together. I remember when we saw it at its framing stage, it seemed so enormous! But then walls went up, details were added and furniture was bought, and slowly, it all started to come together. I think we all learned that patience is key with a new build…and bringing a space together takes time. I have shared the incredible kitchen, and then more recently, the relaxing master bathroom, and today I want to show you the bonus room from the beautiful Beaumont Dream Home.
First off this space is gigantic. My mom wanted it to be a cozy space for watching movies and visiting with loved ones, so we opted for oversized furniture that you could literally just fall in…and not want to leave. (side note: we were successful in this…I fell asleep watching a movie here and did not want to get up)The sofa and accent chair are a gorgeous caramel leather that contrast nicely against the bright, white walls, while still pulling in the same tones as the hardwood. The space also has a bit of an industrial feel with the mix of metals and wood. Then, to soften the space, mom and I added some cushions and throws, all in a soft blue and grey palette. I love the oversized end table – the circular lines of the legs are so beautiful and the mirrored top adds a touch of elegance. In the other corner, near the TV, we placed a really unique accent chair with metal detailing and a soft pinstripe fabric.By the window that lets in a ton of sunlight, we found yet another cozy armchair – something that could be perfect for reading. Above the chair, a pair of black and white feather prints add some life to the massive wall. And on the far wall, my Nana’s piano looks right at home. It is technically meant for my house but until we find a home big enough, it will stay. Isn’t it beautiful though? We still have some more details to add to this bonus room – a few more prints and additional task lighting, say near or on the piano, would really work well as finishing touches. I would also love to see an area rug here to section off the sitting area. The lesson again being: decorating is a work in progress and taking the time to find the right items pays off in the end!
Speaking of work in progress..if you are needing to make some in your own bonus room or other space in your home, this weekend in YEG is yet another awesome Home and Garden Show. I have 8 tickets to giveaway for the day of your choice (Friday through Sunday). First come, first served – just comment below and let me know which day you’d like to attend!

Wow, you did such a beautiful job Kristina. I love seeing how you so successfully put certain colours and furniture together that I would never have dreamed of. Your mom is one lucky lady! I would love tickets ( again ) btw. 🙂
