Not too long ago, Ryan completed a major bathroom remodel for some clients who lived down the street from us in a gorgeous 1920’s home. Elvin and Lisa loved how it turned out and decided to enlist our help in transforming their kitchen too. After paying a visit to our Laurier Heights house, they were drawn to the concrete counters but wanted a massive butcher block island as well. Our response? No problem! Here’s how their new kitchen reno turned out:Everything saw a major transformation in this space except for the original hardwood floors. They chose white cabinets with oil rubbed bronze hardware, a big farmhouse sink and charcoal concrete countertops, which turned out beautifully. The darker grout of the subway tile backsplash ties in perfectly with the darker countertops too.
And then there’s the butcher block island. We ordered this lovely piece from Woodwork + Pub, a company here in Edmonton that has a wide range of butcher block options. You choose everything from the type of wood, to cut, to finishing options. Elvin and Lisa went with hickory wood, a matte finish and berserker stain. It’s safe to say that it steals the show in this space.
A little bit of wood in any space makes it feel so warm and inviting. I could definitely picture myself hosting friends around this island. A big thank you to Elvin and Lisa for letting me share their space!
