On the exact same day that we got possession of our Ravine House and did the big move, we also got the keys to our Capilano home. Yes, it’s true that everything happens at once! Ryan and Brendon wasted no time in starting the demo and already this house is transforming. If you need a refresher – the before post is here! Now let’s check out this demo, shall we!
The kitchen is mostly done, except for the base cabinets. We have some serious space planning in here…not a lot of upper cabinet space (and Ryan won’t go for my “let’s just do open shelving!!” idea). And we discovered that the base cabinets over to the far left are basically unusable because the basement stairs’ build out is there. Not ideal and structurally permanent. So we have some creative work ahead of us. The living room is a bit of a dumping grounds right now…except for our niece!! Don’t throw her out! She came to check out the house too!Remember the carpet wall?? Well it is no longer! Which lead me to think of this: If you could pick one thing in design that 30 years down the road we will laugh at and think “how dated!!”, what do you think it will be? My guess is concrete countertops lol.The upstairs bath is…still pink and orange. But only because the lighting is horrible…a lot has been removed from this space! And now for the biggest part of the renovation – the master suite. If you remember from our before tour, this was at one point a hot tub room, a fun hang out space. But when I walked in, I saw the potential for a whole master suite. We are going to keep the cedar planks because they are in great condition and paint them, along with the beams. The lower section will be the bedroom itself, with a walk in closet. This section that is raised up will be a small hallway to a master ensuite. It’s tough to envision right now, but I think this is what will sell this house! And am I crazy for loving this light fixture? The basement tiki bar is gone – well, piled high in the middle of the room rather. We did find someone who was interested in salvaging all the accessories, stools, etc. so that’s great! Less going to the landfill the better!
And there you have it! Our demo of Capilano Part Deux! What do you think so far? Excited to see what we have planned? Well check back next week to see the kitchen design! Happy Monday Everyone! xo
