It’s been about a week now since we listed the Laurier Heights house and so far showings have been going really well. Keep those fingers crossed for us! I staged the kitchen, living room, bathroom and master bedroom but there was one area that I didn’t get to put those finishing touches on – the back entryway. I love this little nook of the house because it is sunken down, attached to the garage with great views out to the backyard and it has another beautifully sloped ceiling and plenty of natural light. I had so many ideas for this entryway space but no time (or $$) to get it designed and staged. So after seeing this article on Domino, I was inspired to complete the small room with the help of good ol photoshop 🙂 That way I could really have some fun with it and show you 4 ways I’d decorate and make the most out of this small but lovely entryway space!
Design Idea 1 – Sensible and Sophisticated
With this first design, I would paint the far wall a deep grey, perhaps Benjamin Moore’s Raccoon Fur or even Forge Black, which I used from Para paints here. Then it’s all about simplicity: a raw wood bench coupled with a few pillows and a show stopping hoop mirror in bronze. Perfect place to do that last minute check before running out the door or to drop your bag after a long day at work.
Design Idea 2 – A Bold Statement
With this look, I would go a bit edgier and paint the wall black – Benjamin Moore’s Onyx would be perfect! And then I would grab a wood bench or sturdy chair, adding a bit of softness with a pillow or two. To finish it off, I’d grab a large print that really pops against the jet black wall. How stunning is that!!
Design Idea 3 – Au Natural
Wood and greenery dominates this design. I’d start with some simple wallpaper that adds a bit of a circular design. Then a natural wood bench with a shelf for shoe storage, paired with a reclaimed wood rack (that has gorgeous streamlined brass hooks). Getting organized never looked so stylish! And of course, I would love adding a punch of green with a large potted plant.
Design Idea 4 – Mid Century Mod
For my last look, I pulled out all the mid century stops, starting with a luxurious floral wallpaper and a wall mounted cabinet for extra storage. Then some simple decor additions: a rounded white lamp, a pretty pastel print and a large basket for odds and ends (oh, and a pile of books would exist if this was my house lol).
What do you think of my entryway design ideas? Which look is your favourite?!

look number one is my fav! I love that big mirror and bench
That Anthro mirror is gorgeous…I’m in love!
This is a hard one! All the designs are gorg, but I THINK 2 is my fav.
I know, mine is a toss up between 1 and 2!! Thanks for commenting Justine xo
I’m with Janna on this one, look numero uno! Though, with that big window you could definitely pull off a darker wall. And if it was my own home? Mid-century modern all the way haha, piles of books included.
So a bit of a mix of many looks, right?! I’m with you there! When we build that house of yours we will design plenty of book space 😉
