I know, I know…it’s been awhile! Trust me, I have had THE craziest few weeks ever! But, I promise I have some good reasons for my major blogging absence. First off…WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!! Yes, it’s true and we are extremely excited about this adorable bungalow in Forest Heights! We have some great plans for the home and hope to have it flipped and back on the market by the beginning of summer. It will definitely be a lot of hard work but so worth seeing the finished product.
So let me introduce you to the Forest Heights house flip:Yes, the exterior is pink…Kinda cute actually but definitely not staying.
When you walk in the front door, the large living room is off to the right. The whole main floor has this oak panelling which is in great condition. We plan on simply giving it a new coat of white paint – gorgeous! The fireplace and flooring will also get a major facelift.
This galley kitchen has a lot of potential. It actually is really spacious and has a decent layout.
Can’t wait to gut this space and start fresh!
Here is the main bathroom…pretty huh?
One of the bedrooms on the main floor…it has a sliding door to the small patio.
Master bedroom: again, it has a sliding door and great natural light. But that open closet area has got to change!
Down to the basement we go…
Space in between the house and garage. Say hello to Vern, the Venza, in the distance. Love this car!
Not going to lie…the basement scares me. A lot. Ryan and Brendon will be down here for the majority of the flip. A complete gut job is needed here, especially in the bathroom. I could barely walk in there to take the one quick photo. Eew. We may even need to reconfigure the layout, so stay tuned!
So there you have it…the grand tour! What do you think? We see a lot of potential in this property and have some great ideas to make it amazing for the future owner. This week I will share some of my design inspiration for the kitchen, living and bathroom. I would love to hear any thoughts on our Forest Heights home you may have! What do you think we should include in the flip? Have any pointers? Please leave me a comment!
Talk soon! xo
Hey Kia & Ryan! Congratulations on the house! Looks like lots of fun.
Well, I am NOT a designer (at all), but the one thing I notice from these pictures is the gorgeous bright light in the upstairs, and the dark, dinginess (is that word?) of the basement. Obviously, basements lack the quantity of natural lighting that is available from the windows of the top floor. So… I think the basement needs lots of light-colored paint & flooring, and lots of funky light fixtures, to brighten it up. Better lighting goes a long way.
The other thing I notice is lots of wood, and though I am a lover of wood, it is all the same in this house and is too mono-chromatic. I think some different colors of natural wood, as well as painting some of it, would help add some pop. Painting the paneling in the living room sounds like a good idea.
Are you going to leave the outside pink??
Thanks for the comment! I totally agree with you. I love basements that don’t feel like basements. Hard to do when natural lighting is basically non-existent. But, lighting is totally key and I plan to get lots of great artificial light for the basement 🙂 xo
