This city…every time I go back, I fall more in love. There is nowhere else like it…truly. Our trip was packed to the brim but I still had time to just sit and soak up this incredible place. What I love most is the perfect balance of old and new. Its like the whole city is a juxtaposition. Our hotel was right next to the old Roman wall and you could stand next to it while still taking in the brilliant new buildings in the cityscape.
We spent time seeing the sights…the Tower, St. Paul’s, Big Ben, Buckingham…but that wasn’t what made the trip special. We grew as artists by seeing one of a kind art, watching amazing musicals, touring the London Coliseum and National Theatre and spending hours in studios with brilliant dancers.
Alex at Pineapple Dance studios was so generous and we were so grateful to share in his talents. This is a special place tucked in Covent Garden. In between classes, I loved browsing the market and walking the bustling streets. I was especially inspired by the fashionable people going about their day…I could sit and admire clothing for hours on any street in London.
We spent time at one of the most incredible dance facilities in the world – the Laban School. The building is such a unique space designed with dancers in mind. Around a random corner there may be a ramp that leads nowhere or a small alcove where dancers will stage small performances. Even the exterior grass has built in seating for summer shows. The halls are bright, airy and inspiring!
After a walk down the Thames and a stop at the Tate, my heart was happy when we went to the Borough Market. I sampled tea and ate my first giant meringue!
So delicious!
I miss it already…”For there is in London all that life can afford.”
I can’t wait to go back and be inspired again by this city…for now I will drink my tea and dream.
seriously great photos of London!
Thanks Janna!
