I have to start this post off with an apology for the lack in posts. And a confession: this past week I suffered from a major blogging burnout. I do love my little corner of the internet world, but there are definitely weeks where I struggle to find the time or creativity. This past week was a little different too…I felt like I needed a time out because I was more so lacking the motivation…posts were there and waiting to be written but I couldn’t quite get my body in motion. I know this happens to us all so I’m not going to beat myself up over it. I’m coming back a week later with a great post highlighting some fabulous ladies here in our city! So let’s talk about last Monday night when I joined a group of women, and my girl Nicole over at Dutchie Love, for a crafting evening with Made Social Co.
Only months ago, two best friends Christine (blogger behind Just Bella) and Andrea (amazing photographer) realized that their love of crafting could go beyond just the two of them. They started Made Social Co. with the hopes that others would like to “meet, mingle and make stuff.” And they were right! After a few events at various local shops in YEG, the secret got out pretty quickly – a night with these two ladies is creative, fun and full of confetti (their signature addition!).
When I saw they were hosting their next party at Pura Botanicals, I got really excited! I have long been a fan of Lane and this incredible new age apothecary she has created. So, Nicole and I (unfortunately my girl Diana couldn’t make it last minute), arrived last Monday with bated breath for our first crafting experience with Made Social.
The space itself is already incredibly gorgeous (I need to come back in the daylight!!) but the girls had added even more delicious details for the party. We were greeted with champagne and yummy treats from Love Pizza and Brianne Gabrielle Cakes.
On the table: gorgeous greenery from Fabloomosity. Janine always knows how to make a table striking.
After milling about and smelling all of Pura’s heavenly products, we got to work…crafting amazing bath bombs! We followed all of the instructions, chose which essential oils we wanted to add (I chose lavender) and then assembled our bombs in fun, geometric ice cube trays. Once dried, we flipped the trays over to reveal our finished product…mine got away from me a little though and I had to do some fixing fast lol. It still turned out great but a little too dishevelled for a blog worthy photo unfortunately!
Then, with Lane’s help, we made some bath oil and this time I mixed vanilla with some sweet orange (my attempts at trying to replicate her amazing face lotion called Sweet Face).
It was such a fabulous night and I was thrilled I got to be a part of it. Of course, no party with Made Social Co. is complete without a confetti toss…
A big thank you to Christine and Andrea for hosting such a great event. I honestly cannot wait for the next one…they are such creative ladies, I know it’s only going to get better from here. And another big thank you to Lane for letting us all invade her space. Also, stay tuned for more with her – she has generously agreed to have me and Diana back to do some more collaborating! Soooooo excited!
Have a great Monday everyone! xo
