This month I am very excited to guide you around an incredible new space open to anyone in the Edmonton area: the 3 Leaf Wellness Centre. When I met Katie Stamm I knew we were design soul mates! We both share a love of vintage, thrifting and spending hours DIYing. So the first question I had to ask her was why she felt inspired to open up her own space…
“When I stated my career in massage therapy I had no real desire to open my own space. I loved doing massage, just being in the room treating my clients was more than enough for me. Over the years I realized that massage meant more to me than just treating a body. It was about creating an experience, and a space for my clients to escape and unwind. Slowly the desire to expand the experience to beyond just one single room grew and before I knew it I was dreaming of opening my own space. I envisioned a place that offered the best treatment possible, with highly trained therapists that really care, yet within a beautiful environment that nurtured a client’s experience from the moment they walked through the door. In Massage you often get one or the other… a beautiful space or a great massage.”
But after seeing the finished product that is 3 leaf and getting to know Katie, I can safely say she has achieved both!
I am also happy to say that all of the gorgeous renovations you see were done by my fiancé and his company Revive Contracting. Him and his team put in a lot of hard work but it would never have come together without the incredible vision behind it all. Katie was inspired to create a wellness centre that promoted relaxation and healing, with style at its forefront. With thrifted furniture finds, unique touches and DIY’ed artwork, it truly is a one of a kind space.
When you walk into 3 leaf, the amazing front entry grabs your attention immediately. The chandeliers are beautiful fixtures that cast a warm glow over the floral feature wall and large, white desk. It instantly feels glamorous!
Delicate trays around the centre easily keep items corralled and the artwork Katie created really give us a glimpse of her wonderful, creative character. I absolutely love her floral canvas art! How beautiful! And I can really appreciate the time that went in to spraying all the flowers (a tedious task for sure!!) It’s not easy being a DIYer sometimes…
I asked Katie what her favourite area in the wellness centre was to which she responded:
“So hard to pick… I love it all!! If I had to pick I would say the waiting room. I just love how everything came together to create a comfortable yet stylish place for people to sit and relax before their treatment. The entire room was inspired by the $100 green velvet couch. Almost everyone that saw it gave me a polite “Oh that’s nice” but I could tell that they thought I had lost it! Actually, as I bought and returned countless items that just didn’t seem to work with that couch, I was a little worried I was going to have to go in another direction. It was the balance of the black and white pieces that finally made the room click. Now one of the first comments I get is ‘I love the couch!'”
I would have to agree with Katie too. I love the waiting room with the striking green couch and the black and white accent chairs! The space has a great balance of colours and textures with the wood furniture, plush cushions and reflective trays and tea cups. It easily invites guests to grab a delicious drink, sink into a seat and let the day slip away.
The two bathrooms were designed to match with the same rich wall paint as the main areas, elegant chandeliers and decorative round mirrors. I especially love the pop of green on the side table Katie repainted very similarly to the couch in the waiting area. It is just the right amount of colour for the small bathroom!
Every massage room is similar with that shot of colour being carried through like that found in the bathrooms. Katie was especially on trend with her use of pattern on the beds as well.
How could clients not feel warm and cozy while in this space?
“My greatest challenge in designing the space was finding the right balance between creating a space that represents me and what I love, while still being welcoming and visually pleasing to a diverse group of people. I think I was able to achieve this by choosing only one wall colour and one type of flooring. This way when I use a bold colour in a piece of furniture, or created something personal like a piece of artwork, the back ground was neutral enough to support it. With that being said, my personality is still present in every room, in the little details. From my love of chandeliers, silver platters and mirrors!”

The space is wonderful…but how is the massage? I am looking for a new therapist.
I’ve only heard good things but I haven’t been myself yet!
