Happy Monday friends! The countdown is on – last week before Christmas!! After the perfect weekend away in the mountains, I am refreshed and my holiday spirits are high! I have a few things left to do this week, mainly some meal prep, but other than that, I am feeling pretty ready to start celebrating.
My home is also holiday ready, so I thought today I would share a little home tour with you. This year I faired on the side of minimalistic Christmas decor, keeping things pretty simple. After all, we are still living in a bit of a renovation paradise at the moment. Most of the ornaments stayed tucked away and I really didn’t purchase anything new save for a few faux garlands and some greenery. I love the result since it caters to my Scandinavian heart 🙂 In our front living room, I changed things around a little from this post. We picked up our real Christmas tree (we always get a real one!) and I changed the wreath since it was looking a little frail and sad. I was inspired by this simple DIY – so I grabbed some fresh greenery and created a couple of wreaths to hang above the fire.
Like I mentioned before, I opted to keep the tree very simple and left the majority of my ornaments in storage. I only added a few glass balls, some pine cones and a lot of string lights!! At night the tree looks so pretty! On our new sofa, I added a plush pillow or two and the coziest winter blanket. I love that it’s plaid but still neutral.
My piano got a little dusting of Christmas – a felt ball garland, a small spruce and chalkboard sign where I can easily switch up the holiday message. PS – that’s a photo of my great grandma and grandpa! I added a couple more real spruces around the house, with a Scandinavian nod here and there. I usually purchase a few holiday scented candles too. Even though we have a real tree, there’s no reason I can’t add to its delicious smell with a few more scents. And finally, this year, I wanted a second tree, though this one is much different from the first. I made Ryan trek through the bushes outside of our house with me to find the perfect fallen branch for my minimalistic tree. I plopped it into our old crock from the farm and added a few small white Christmas ornaments. It lived momentarily in front entry before starting to inconvenience people by catching a coat or two. I moved it into the family room (not yet renovated!) where it seemed to have a better home! Minimalistic Christmas decor at its best right?!
