If you’re anything like me, you are sooooo ready to start clocking some hours outdoors! We are due for good weather any day now, and as soon as the sun comes out, you can bet that me (and Jack) will be on our deck. I love spending time here whether that’s cozying up with a coffee in the a.m. or curling up under a blanket with a glass of wine at night. Plus, we love hosting friends here long into the summer.
But in order to create that outdoor oasis, a few elements need to come together first. Here’s what I am visualizing:
String Lights // Sofa // Coffee Table // Area Rug // Acapulco Chairs // Palm Leaf Pillows // Striped Pillow // Green Pillow // Side Table // Glazed Planters // White Planters // Watering Can
We always flock to the seating area, even when eating, so I want to put the majority of my energy here and make it look as inviting as possible. Just because it’s outdoors doesn’t mean I treat it differently from any interior space. I still want a good furniture configuration, lots of textures and the right amount of lighting!
A nice plush outdoor sofa and some Acapulco chairs are the perfect starting point to layer in some soft pillows. Adding in a pop of green in my accessories is easy (hello colour of the year too!) and I can always switch them out in the future. When it comes to investing in outdoor furniture, stick to neutrals for the big things and then go for colour in small doses. Then it never gets too pricey to change up your look from season to season!
A lot of people wouldn’t consider an area rug for outside but it helps to define the seating from the dining area. And how great is this option I found?! It’s easy to transport and clean, and I love that it adds a bit of an eclectic vibe.
My outdoor oasis would never be complete without lots of greenery and the perfect amount of lighting. I find that some simple string lights and a few candles is really all you need to get the right ambiance.
What do you think of my deck design? Do you have any tips for creating an outdoor oasis?!
